About Our Council
Knights of Columbus Council 6673 serves Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, Kansas — a vibrant suburban parish of over 2,400 families. We are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, committed to making our community a better place while supporting our Church and strengthening our families.
The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by the Blessed Michael J. McGivney, a parish priest in New Haven, Connecticut, to provide assistance to widows and children left behind when the family breadwinner died. Today it is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization, with more than two million members worldwide.
Our Principles
Charity
Our Catholic faith teaches us to “love thy neighbor as thyself.” Knights show love for their neighbors through food drives for local pantries, volunteering at Special Olympics, and supporting — both spiritually and materially — mothers who choose life for their babies. Our mission and our faith in God compel us to action.
Unity
None of us is as good as all of us. Together, we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually. As a Knight, you can count on the support and encouragement of your brother Knights as you work to make life better in your parish and community.
Fraternity
We watch out for and take care of one another. From the Order’s founding mission of protecting families to the millions of volunteer hours Knights give each year to assist sick and disabled members and their families, fraternity is at the heart of who we are.
Patriotism
Knights of Columbus are proud, patriotic citizens, devoted to God and country, and believe in standing up for both.
Our Structure
Local councils are the basic unit of the Knights. Most are based in parishes, like ours at Holy Trinity. Each council works to assist with the needs of its community consistent with the principles of the Order, and every council is assigned a certified insurance agent — himself a Knight — dedicated to the financial needs of members’ families.
